"I just got a global 205 second hand. And while it was working well, I had to make some adjustments to make it perfect for my uses, needles, thread etc. This device is worth every bit of what it costs! No more guess work and repeatable measurements once you find that perfect timing. The device has a lock screw so you can move the needle plate up and down. I thought, based on the video from weaver, that it was fixed ready to use. That made my needle bar way too low. So I just assumed from other knowledge where I wanted the needle eye to be. After some testing with my machine, I set BDC with the eye of the needle above the ridge line of the deflector. This made it also 44mm from the oil plate which has been said to work as well. Then you can advance the needle to the top of the timing device plate and get your hook in place. Once timing is set you can keep the device for next time. I made sure to mark my flywheel with an arrow for BDC I used with the timing device setting. I am super grateful for the staff at Weaver to get me this in Canada and for making set up of the machine easier. If you have a 205 and don’t want to guess or fuss, get this timing device!"
