"The leather seems alright but the shoulder I got had light colored specs on it, mainly within 6 inches from the edges. I made a wallet and I had a couple of the specs on it and I just figured I'll keep this one for myself. Later on I was rubbing one of the specs still wondering what it is and the color peeled off of the leather. . . . . . I dont figure that's suppose to happen so I can't put fives stars on this leather. There is enough specs to make it hard to cut around them so I wont be buying this again."

"I was very pleased with the product I received. I was very disappointed in the condition it arrived. The bottom portion of the roll was not protected by the packaging paper. A portion was wrinkled and will not work on the wallets I am making. All my previous orders arrived with no issues. Had to keep in order to complete my projects before Christmas."

Great quality for the money

"This is one of the great value leathers out there. I got the black which is struck through all the way, and it's incredibly well finished on both the flesh and grain side. The thickness is on the thinner side, but not paper thin as other reviewers have mentioned. It would be good for refined wallets and pockets. If it's for bags I would reinforce it. The only downside is that there is a heavy chemical dye smell. The leather is marked as Made in Mexico and the smell is similar to other leathers that come out of Leon. I think it should be renamed from Sao Paulo to Leon or at least some region of Mexico for accuracy."

Surprisingly refined

"I am revising my original review to add one extra star. My previous concern was that there was a chemical dye smell out of the package, but the smell does dissipate. And the pieces i've made with Sao Paulo (black) have been the perfect combination of refined with character. I will be back for the other colors."
