Description

  • A high-performance vegetable-tanned leather at an accessible price point
  • Great choice for budget-conscious makers who still want reliable performance and durability
  • Vegetable-tanned using quebracho tree extract, a natural tannin known for producing dense, durable leather
  • Firm temper and high density provide a solid, substantial feel ideal for structured leather goods
  • Very low stretch helps projects maintain their shape over time
  • Naturally rich reddish-brown tone straight from the tannage process
  • Crisp tooling results with sharp cuts and deep impressions when properly cased
  • A/B grade hides may contain brands—a rugged detail that adds unique character to any project
  • Lower water absorption compared to lighter vegetable tannages, requiring more controlled moisture during tooling
  • Ideal for heavy-duty applications such as firm belts, structured straps, tack, and projects where rigidity matters

Smaller than advertised

"The leather feels fine and looks good, but was definitely smaller than advertised. Average size is 5. 75 for shoulder so double shoulder should be around 11. 5. Mine was 9. 5, if I knew it would be that small I would have bought from somewhere else due to the cost per Sq ft. Again leather feels fine, Im attaching a video and picture for example it's not perfect quality but acceptable for the price"

Leather Feels good, smaller than advertised

"The Listing says 5. 75sq ft per shoulder, for a double shoulder i got 9. 5 instead of around 11. 5. The leather itself is good, the back is pretty clean and it feels and looks nice."

I am impressed in how

"I am impressed in how nice this leather is. I was reluctant in ordering it but after receiving it and doing a couple projects with it, I like the way it tools and wet-forms. Very workable !!! The color is a little on the orange side but dyes very well considering. I will be buying this again and am recommending to fellow leather crafters to check out. . ."

This leather is just as

"This leather is just as good as the other veg tan, but it does have a reddish hue to it. But nothing to worry about. And it's about half the price."

Poor quality for stitching

"I was making a belt as usual. I put a nice groove around it and decided I would add a stitch around the belt. I used the 1/8” flat chisels to make the thread holes. I started using the 0. 8 ritza tiger thread for the stitching. No machine, so I was hand stitching using a saddler’s stitch. When I went to tight the thread, it broke through the holes. Literally cutting through the leather. This has never happened on other 8-9oz leather double shoulders that I’ve bought through Weaver. Kind of disappointing. The leather is serviceable as long as you don’t chisel it."
