Genuine kangaroo leather is a great choice for making your project truly unique, and it works well wherever strength, softness and beauty are required. Because these are full-thickness hides — check out the vein marks on the flesh side — with a tight grain, they are extremely strong for their 2-4 oz. weight.

Veg tanned the old fashioned way using a process that utilizes tree bark and other natural tannins, our kangaroo leather has both beauty and workability. Because of its tannage, it can also be molded and formed.

"I'm accustomed to working with natural vegetable tanned leathers of different grades and animals, but unfortunately the kangaroo I received was not as expected. occasional scarring, damage, and other blemishes are to be expected with a natural product. The damages, marks and scarring of the hide I received are so extensive it leaves very little usable leather for any of my projects. Kangaroo is also a very premium product with a premium price tag so I expected the quality that Weaver Leather usually delivers on."

"This is some unique material, I really enjoy working with the kangaroo leather. With this leather you have the opportunities that come from thin and pliable leather, AND it is some really tough stuff! Great for hand cutting lace, wet forming, etc. it is a bit challenging with some carvings, the grain is rugged and somewhat wild making clean sharp lines difficult to achieve. Overall, I love this stuff, I’ve purchased multiple times and will do so again! Photos show hide as received, and some old Mocs that got relaced"
