Additional Details

Most people who buy split leather are producing farrier aprons; however, this soft, durable and consistent hide is also great for making aprons for steel workers and saw mill workers. They are also sometimes referred to as mule hides in the Western industry. We have used this split leather in our facility for years to make our farrier aprons and have found them to be the best available.

Difference

Chrome tanning yields consistent color and grade and offers excellent value. Chrome tanning takes about one to three days as opposed to the one-to-three-month veg tanning process, making it an economical choice for leathercrafters.
