"After having several old military style 1907 rifle slings deteriorate and break on hunting rifles that I own, I decided to ask my father-in-law make me a couple of new ones. He has been doing leather work for over 50 years. The common size for this frog is now 1 1/4" wide, which when fitted on the right size leather strap, is to big for the rifle swivels on my older Sako model rifles. Those swivels are not replaceable like modern rifles are and they are 1 inch wide. Having bought the leather, new rings, and rivets to do the job, I have been waiting for these frogs to arrive so my father-in-law could get started. When I opened the package today, I was greatly disappointed to see that the width of these frogs is 1 1/4", not 1" as shown on the website. Hopefully, these will still work on 1 inch leather, but until I take them to my father-in-law this weekend, I won't know for sure. For a modern gun with a swivel stud that accepts different size swivels, you can make a good 1 1/4" wide sling with this frog. If that is your end goal, this is the right product for you and I do recommend it. If you are in a situation like me where your sling can't be wider than 1", you may have a problem. I will know more when I can actually see what this will look like on the leather strap."
