Lay a glass cutting board on the leather for 24 hours. This is our favorite method given the water evenly distributes throughout the entire piece!

The true beauty in the casing process lies within the fact that you don't have to rewet the leather while tooling or stamping! When you case the leather beforehand, you can expect 2 to 2.5 hours of tooling time before the leather starts to dry out.

Also, casing your leather allows for the tooling and stamping designs to come out crisp, clean, and precise. The leather isn't mushy or soggy when you cut so the final product displays unparalleled consistency, definition, and color.

To achieve a beautifully stamped design, we suggest using a basket weave tool. While it may be tempting to strike the tool once with your hand on top, this can lead to uneven results. Instead, try using a lighter, more controlled strike with multiple hits.
